After 25 years in the corporate world, I found myself "divorced" from my
senior marketing position. So time for a change; out of the corporate-world and into the big wide-world and to put my passion
for sea kayaking and canoeing to use!
I have both ACA (American Canoe Association) and BCU (British Canoe Union)
sea kayak certification. I am an Advanced Coastal Sea Kayak Instructor with the ACA at Level 5 and Level 3 Sea and Canoe (open-boat)
Coach with the BCU and ticking-off the boxes for my Level 4. I am also a Wilderness First Responder and Leave No Trace
Trainer.
I first started paddling in the UK where I was born and raised. My kayaking started in the early 1970's
as a Boy Scouts for the canoe merit badge. I went on to complete my Eagle Scout expedition in a kayak. During this time, I
started racing as a junior K1 with the Wey Kayak Club (in Guildford, UK). During the summer months, I also taught youth kayak
programs for the local city parks and recreation department.
I have paddled extensively in the UK, up and down
the California coast, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and British Columbia. I currently operate from Bainbridge Island, WA.
I love the challenge of open coast paddling, but also get great enjoyment from the many sheltered and inland waterways,
be it in canoe or kayak, where wildlife abounds. My philosophy regarding life, and paddlesports is simple: To have fun!
See you on the water,
Rob
